The 8 Best Passive Income Books for Consultants and Freelancers

There are a ton of business and passive income books out there.  Sometimes, it can be hard to figure out which information is valuable and can really help you grow the passive income side of your business.  Because I want your business to succeed, in this article I'm presenting a list of some of the best passive income books for freelancers and consultants.

Remember, as a consultant or freelancer, you already have valuable knowledge that you can package into info-products to sell online.  Doing so will build a steady and growing passive income stream that can run alongside your current business, or become your new primary source of income.  The books below will help you get there.

Here they are, listed in no particular order:

#1: The 4-Hour Workweek by Tim Ferris

This is probably the best known of all the passive income books out there, having spent over 4 years on the New York Times Bestseller List.  Author Tim Ferris shows you how to outsource tasks, build significant income without a staff or office, and live the life you want to live.  Part motivation and part how-to, this book is an especially good read for consultants who feel like they are tied to trading time for money.

#2: Dotcom Secrets by Russell Brunson

In my experience, the absolute best way to build passive income is to take what you know and turn it into information products that you sell online.  But how do you effectively sell those products?  Where do you find customers?  How do you get them to buy what you're offering?  This fantastic book by Russell Brunson will show you how to build sales funnels online to sell more e-books, webinars, classes, and all the other products you're creating.

#3: The Millionaire Fastlane by MJ DeMarco

This motivational book by MJ DeMarco aims to change your thought patterns and help you see past your current day-to-day, relax-when-I-retire work life.  If you're not yet sure whether you want to launch a passive income component for your business, this book will help you see why living client-to-client is not the best path to financial freedom.  This is one of several passive income books on this list that focuses on changing your business mindset.

#4: The Six-Figure Second Income by David Lindahl and Jonathan Rozek

If you're looking for passive income books that include lots of how-to information and step-by-step plans, this book is for you.  Inside, you'll find guides to figuring out what info-products you can sell, learning how to build your products, and figuring out how to market and sell what you've created.  The goal for this book is to help you launch your passive income products quickly and easily, either as a second revenue stream or as a stand-alone business.

#5: Expert Secrets by Russell Brunson

This is another book by Russell Brunson, author of Dotcom Secrets (mentioned above).  This book is one of the few passive income books geared specifically to help consultants and other subject-area experts learn how to sell online.  Expert Secrets will help you build lead and product sales funnels by setting yourself up as a trusted guide for an online community you create – a community that is eager to buy every info product you sell!

#6: Invisible Selling Machine by Ryan Deiss

Want to build systems inside your business that will allow you to automate all of your sales and marketing programs, so you can work from home, the beach, or wherever you want?  This book by Ryan Deiss will help you set-up automated online marketing programs and teach you how to systemize your current work, and includes great templates and ideas you can use in your own business.

#7: KaChing by Joel Comm

One of several passive income books on this list that focus specifically on online marketing, KaChing by Joel Comm teaches how to successfully sell info products, membership sites, and affiliate products online.  This book is geared more for the beginner… if you're new to selling info products online, this book is for you.  If you've already got your feet wet and want more in-depth strategies, check out Dotcom Secrets by Russell Brunson, which is mentioned above.

#8: Authorpreneur by Jesse Tevolow

Most passive income books on this list focus on creating any type of info product and selling it online.  This book by Jesse Tevolow focuses specifically on one type of passive income stream: writing books (including e-books).  If you're interested in turning your consulting knowledge into a book you can sell, this book will help.  It includes info on the book creation process, plus tons of tips on how to turn your book into a bestseller.

Whether you're looking for some motivation on your business journey, tips on business strategy, or help with learning how to market your products and build your brand, these 8 passive income books belong on every consultant and freelancer's bookshelf!
